Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life

Jeremy, who is about to turn thirteen, lost his father five years ago. He is looking forward to an uneventful summer. Then, a most unusual birthday present arrives in the mail: a box from his father that supposedly contains the meaning of life. The catch is that the box can only be opened by 4 special keys, and the keys are missing. The race is on for Jeremy and his best friend Lizzy to find the keys and, hopefully, the meaning of life. A great read for fifth grade and up.
